Lalu should be booked under Witch Craft Practicing Act: JD(U)

Patna, Jan 28 (UNI) The ruling JD(U) in Bihar today demanded arrest of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad for his alleged act of witch-hunt.

JD(U) spokesperson Shivanand Tiwari here said Mr Prasad chanted 'mantras' and displayed skill of 'Ojhas' (traditional pundits) for respite from ghosts and evils. ''In course of the high-level drama, Mr Prasad claimed himself to be a good Ojha which was illegal, he added.

Mr Tiwari demanded that the state government lodge a case against Mr Prasad and arrest him under Witch Craft Practicing Act 1999.

He further alleged that Mr Prasad had misused over Rs 80 lakh of the Railway Department in the name of constructing a temple and offering special prayers at his native village Phulwariya.

Mr Tiwari said over Rs 15 lakh were spent on the temple construction, over Rs 30 lakh on holding a four-day programme and running the of MR-special train in connection with the programme.

He asked Mr Prasad to prove the expenditure before the Income Tax department, saying that he would have to explain from where he generated funds.

He would also have to justify the expenditure incurred on running the MR special train for the programme before the IT, Mr Tiwari added.
