Japan's Pioneer Corp to launch more plasma TVs this year

New Delhi, Jan 28 (UNI) In a bid to create a foothold in the Indian consumer durables market, Japan's Pioneer Corporation will line up more products from its home entertainment basket this year even as it has launched two 'PureVision' HD plasma TVs.

Pioneer's latest offering equipped with a new pure black panel II -- PDP-507XG, 50 inch high-definition (HD) plasma TV, and PDP-42XG, 42 inch HD plasma TV come with a price tag of Rs 2.50 lakh and Rs 1.50 lakh respectively.

''Our pursuit of home theatre and home concert hall entertainment for the living room is a natural extension of Pioneer's home electronics leadership in the industry,'' said Pioneer Electronics AsiaCentre Pte Ltd Deputy Managing Director Seak Poh Leong.

The company presently has few dealerships in the country, one being at Noida in North India, and will soon expand its network in other parts of the country and launch new models of home electronics by June-July this year.

It is also eyeing tie-ups over the next two-three years for expansion.

''We will launch new products by June-July this year. We may tie-up with other companies here for expanding our market in India over the next two-three years. We will also hire media experts for our advertisements,'' the company's Senior Manager (sales and marketing) Ronald Lee Yew Meng told UNI here.

The company's new home entertainment portfolio comprises a range of sleek, innovative products especially designed to simplify enjoying movies or listening to music for today's generation, he said.

The company boasts that the new pure drive II has a better colour system that adjusts the particular colours of scenes, such as the skin tone of a character on the screen as compared to other televisions. Also the contrast ratios are improved by up to 10 per cent at 3,000:1 as compared 1,000:1 in other televisions.

Pioneer Corporation has a wide entertainment product menu ranging from car stereo systems, home theatre sytems, DVDs and plasma TVs.
