Jaitley condemns Punjab CM for showing arrogance to media

Jalandhar, Jan 28 (UNI) BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley today condemned Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and his Media Advisor BIS Chahal for showing ''undue arrogance and intolerance'' to questions from mediapersons at a press conference in Ludhiana two days ago.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Jaitley said the Chief Minister and his Advisor had showed disrespect when a scribe of a Chandigarh based Punjabi daily put forth his question.

Mr Jaitley said that it was really strange that the Chief Minister's advisor Mr Chahal instantly made a telephone call to the scribe's employee and wanted him to sack the reporter. In a democratic system, politicians and public representatives were accountable and answerable to media and the people, he added.

The BJP leader said the Chief Minister and his Media Advisor's behaviour was against conventions and norms of a democratic and civilised system.
