Jammu, Jan 28 (UNI) Former Haryana Governor Babu Parmanand today said while the whole country is bothered about the racial slurs against Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty in the UK's reality show none is concerned about the caste-based discrimination and atrocities against Dalits which is on the rise across India.

Veteran BJP leader, while addressing 'Jan-Jagran rally on Dr B R Ambedkar Mission' organised by Bhartiya Dalit Sahitya Academy Jammu and Kashmir, said,'' the constitution is being mutilated through frequent unwanted amendments and the constitutional safe-guards meant for the up-liftment of the Dalits and other weaker sections are violated purposely.'' ''The implementation of reservation policy is tardy, poor and negligible as only 4.5 and 1.8 per cent posts were filled up in 59 years of independence against 15 and 7.5 per cent posts reserved for the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes as per population ratio,'' he added.

He also alleged that the Haryana government's has issued verbal instructions to officials to persuade media not to publish the reports about cruelties on the Dalits.

While criticising the Dalit politicians and leaders he said that they get nominated from reserved quota seats and only serve the political purposes of their respective parties.

He also accused the politicians and high profile officials of being hand in glove with the land mafia and forcibly grabbing the land meant for distribution to the landless.
