Heavy fog disrupts air,road traffic
Kolkata, Jan 28 (UNI) Heavy fog disrupted air and road traffic here this morning.
The fog that set in from 0600 hrs brought visibilty to zero in some places.
Air and rail passengers had a harrowing time. All morning flights at Netaji Subash Chandra Bose International Airport were disrupted today following heavy fog.
Altogether 12 incoming flights had to be diverted, according to airport sources. Failure of equipment for measuring visibilty on the main runway added to the problem, they said.
Train services too were affected with many passengers stranded in stations. Many trains left or arrived late.
The city traffic was also affected.
The minimum temperature, however, rose several notches to 17.4 degrees Celsius while the maximum was 29.4 degrees.
The MET office has forecast morning fog with a minimum temperature of 16 degrees.
Humidity in the air was high throughout the day, the sources said.
