Govt would increase Corpn taxes after polls: TDP
Rajahmundry, Jan 28 (UNI) The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary today said the Congress Government in Andhra Pradesh would enhance all taxes under Municipal Corporation of Rajahmundry limits after the Corporation polls.
Addressing a ward meeting here, Mr Chowdary said the Government had postponed tax enhancement with an eye on elections. "Once the elections are over, there will be a steep increase in taxes in the Corporation limits," he alleged..
Alleging that there was no developmental activity taking place now, he said the Government was only continuing TDP's welfare schemes.
The Government failed to release funds due to the Corporation he said and added that prices of essential commodities was skyrocketing.
He also charged the Government for not monitoring price hike and problems in the power sector.
Mr Chowdary alleged that the Government had cancelled the houses sanctioned to poor and downtrodden by the previous TDP regime. The houses were given only to the Congress cadre now, he alleged.
Mr Chowdary also criticised the Government for not sanctioning SC and ST scholarships for SC and ST and ignoring many welfare schemes initiated by the TDP Government. Grama Sabha was not convened to decide on the requirements of the people, he added.
