Govt will support Telugu film industry: CM

Hyderabad, Jan 28 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said his government would provide assistance to the Telugu film industry to face the competition from television channels.

Participating in the valedictory function of 'Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of Telugu Film Industry' here, Dr Reddy said the government would support the film industry to establish new studios in Vishakhapatnam.

Stating that the films should generate awareness on several social issues and strive to remove social disparities, the Chief Minister said the film industry should generate more employment opportunities in the state.

Union Minister of State for Mines Dasari Nayarana Rao said the quality of themes for the films was declining and the industry was not coming out with 'feel-good' movies.

The Chief Minister also felicitated the Telugu film actors Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna and Anjali.

However, actor Mohan Babu rejected the felicitation.
