Father arrested for kidnapping daughter
Mysore, Jan 28 (UNI) The city police have solved the mystery behind the missing father and daughter by arresting the father on charges of kidnapping his own daughter.
Police said one Prashanth Kumar Jain allegedly kidnapped his five-year-old daughter Ichcha Jain and demanded ransom for her release from his own wife. Police rescued the girl from Kolhapur city in Maharashtra and nabed her father.
Recently Kumar's wife Abhinetri had left for her mother's house in Chennagri, leaving daughter with her husband. In her absence, Kumar, who was neckdeep with debts, reportedly pledged the gold ornaments and silverware worth of lakhs of rupees with a pawn broker. On her return the wife found both her daughter and the husband missing and lodged a complaint with police.
In the meantime she received a call from her husband, who pretending as a kidnapper demanded Rs one crore for the release of Ichcha. Some time later he again called her and the police traced the call to Kolhapur.
Police rushed to the city in Maharashtra and raided the lodge where Kumar was staying with his daughter and arrested him with help of Maharashtra police. During the interrogation Kumar confessed that he had demanded the ransom.
