Devi Lal University to be made center of excellence

Sirsa, Jan 28 (UNI) The Haryana government will develop the Chaudhary Devi Lal University here as a center of excellence to impart qualitative education in the age of globalisation.

There will be no paucity of funds for development of the University, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced while addressing the students after laying the foundation stones of Science Block, Lal Bahadur Shastri Administrative block, Indira Ganghi residential colony and inaugurating the faculity house, at the University Campus here today.

Mr Hooda said that keeping in view the importance of education, the state government was giving special thrust to the promotion of qualitative education at the primary level. He said Haryana was the first state in the country to implement Eduset system in education and diclosed that it was the biggest Eduset system in Asia.

He said the first women's university of northern India had been set up at Khanpur Kalan. Deen Bandhu Chaudhary Chhotu Ram Engineering College, Murthal, had been upgraded to the level of science and technical university, besides school of business had been set up in Guru Jambheshwar University.

He said a National Law University would be constructed at Manesar. Rajeev Gandhi Education city was also being developed at Sonepat in which all the reputed institutions of the world would be invited to set up their institutes.

He said 25 per cent seats in professional institutions would be reserved for the students belonging to the state.

Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Minister for state Ms Shelja stressed the need for starting the latest courses in the University so that students could face the challenges ahead.

Later while addressing mediapersons, the Chief Minister said that an Overseas Placement Assistance Society had been set up in the state and as many as 2000 youth had registered themselves with the society. The government would also provide education loan to the youth who intend going abroad, he said and added this loan would be up to Rs 15 lakh and would be given through the Punjab National Bank which was the lead bank of the society.
