Dalit Sena seeks spl drive in clearing SC, ST vacancies

Chennai, Jan 28 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu unit of the Dalit Sena today appealed to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to order a special drive to fill up about one lakh vacancies reserved for SC and STs, in various government departments for the past two decades.

In a press release State Dalit Sena president M Palanimuthu said a resolution to this effect was adopted at its state office bearers meeting held here.

The meeting also thanked Mr Karunanidhi for his assurance on filling up 495 college lecturers' vacancies reserved for SCs and STs.

He said the meeting also urged the Central and state governments to ensure reservation in private sector also.

The meeting also appealed to Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram to instruct all the banks, especially the nationalised banks, to be liberal in sanctioning of loans to the poor, farmers and the downtrodden.
