Curfew relaxation extended in MP town

Jabalpur, Jan 28 (UNI) With the situation remaining normal, the curfew relaxation for 12 hours from 0600 hrs was extended till midnight today in this cantonment town where it was clamped in six police station areas after midnight on January 26 to check spiralling tension between two communities.

Collector Sanjay Dube said the curfew relaxation was extended in view of situation returning to normalcy but night curfew will remain in force from 0000 hrs to 0500 hrs in the morning tomorrow.

During the curfew relaxation today, markets remained opened and traffic movement was normal.

A decision to lift curfew would be taken tomorrow after reviewing the situation.

Educational institutions will remain open tomorrow. As a precautionary measure, tight vigil was being maintained in the six police station areas.

Curfew was clamped on Kotwali, Lordgunj, Omti, Gohalpur, Hanumantal and Belbag where prohibitory orders were first imposed after a confrontation at Kamaniyan Gate following tearing of posters relating to a religious programme.
