Cheran Express derails, 9 hurt
Chennai, Jan 28 (UNI) At least nine passengers were injured and train services on the Chennai Central-Jolarpet Section badly affected after five bogies of the Coimbatore-Chennai Central Cheran Express derailed near Vinnamangalam Railway Station near Ambur in Vellore District of Tamil Nadu early today.
Sources said one bogie overturned. Electricity supply on one of the tracks snapped as poles carrying overhead power cables were damaged due to the impact.
The injured were rushed to government hospitals at Ambur and Vellore, police said. The other passengers were shifted to trains and special buses, according to Southern Railway sources.
