Chain snatcher has gala time at temple function

Puducherry, Jan 28 (UNI) Thieves capitalised on the 'Kumbabishekam' consecration of a temple here to snatch chains from women devotees who thronged the place of worship.

According to police, the 'Kumbabishekam' of the Ponnumariyamman Temple infront of the Muthialpet Police Station was performed today.

After the function started, a woman came to the police station stating that her chain was missing.

Police advised her to search for the chain as she might have lost it in the crowds.

However, with two more women coming to the station with the same complaint, police personnel deputed to the area to search for the culprit.

However, the search proved futile as they could not trace the thief.
