Jalandhar, Jan 28 (UNI) BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley today charged the UPA government at the Centre with mismanagement of security-related issues and failure in containing the prices of food items and claimed this would adversely affect the ruling Congress' prospects in the assembly elections in Punjab and other states.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Jaitley, who is incharge of the Punjab BJP unit's affairs, said strong anti-incumbency factor was prevailing in Punjab against the Centre and the state government.

He said people were annoyed with the UPA Government for its failure in curbing spiral rise in prices of food items and affective managment of security issues.

On the other hand, the Amarinder Singh government lost people's faith and support due to its ''ill governance'' and ''feudal style of working'' by the Chief Minister and his coterie, he claimed.

He said there was a strong anti-incumbency factor against the ruling Congress in the state and the SAD-BJP combine was heading for an impressive win in the February 13 assembly elections.

Moreover, the ruling Congress state unit was also weak at the organisational level and in the absence of a strong leader, the state unit was reduced to a ''confederation of factions'', he claimed.
