Boy dead, 6 hurt after being run over by tractor

Mumbai, Jan 28: An eight-year-old boy was killed and six others, including a nine-month-old boy, were injured after a tractor ran over them on the Juhu beach here last evening.

Police said Mohammed Rafiq had gone to the beach along with his family members last evening.

However, as the children were playing, a negligent tractor driver reared the vehicle and mowed down the playing children.

Rafiq was killed on the spot, while six others were injured in the incident.

All the injured were admitted to the Cooper Hospital at Vile Parle here. The driver, Ramchandra Sadu Bharati, has been arrested on charges of rash and negligent driving, the police said.
