Moga, Jan 28 (UNI) In view of the forthcoming Punjab Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) has intensified its campaign to inform rural masses especially farmers about the socio-economic benefits extended by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh's government as compared to the earlier regime of the SAD-BJP.
Stating this here today, BKU national president and former MP Bhupinder Singh Mann said the the bold steps taken by the current Congress government for the benefit of the farmers included timely sale of the rabi and kharif crops.
He claimed that it was for the first time that MSP for wheat had been announced before sowing with an increase of Rs 100 per quintal.
The government had also provided eight hours uninterrupted power supply to the agricultural sector, he said.
According to Mr Mann, the BKU felt that the welfare of the state and particulary of the farmers was safe in the hands of Congress.
All remaining issues of the farmers would be solved if the party was voted back to power in Punjab, he added.
