95 kg of Sea Cucumber seized in Andaman
Port Blair, Jan 28 (UNI) The Andaman and Nicobar police have seized about 95 kg of sea cucumbers, illegally fished out from the sea, police said today.
''Police intercepted an auto rickshaw in Port Blair city, when its driver tried to flee and seized these sea cucumbers,'' Station Head of Police Department's Central Crime Station in Port Blair Tarsem Singh said.
Police have arrested two persons in this regard together with the auto driver.
''Three of them were arrested recently and have been handed over to the Deputy Conservator of Forest, Wild Life along with the seized materials for initiating further action,'' Mr Singh told UNI.
Andaman sea has abundant sea cucumbers which are often illegally fished and sold in foreign countries.
Often poachers from Myanmar also sneak inside Andaman sea to collect sea cucumbers.
