Yoga Guru Ramdev escapes unhurt in road accident

Bhubaneswar, Jan 27 (UNI) Yoga Guru Ramdev escaped unhurt in a major road accident near Muradanagar while travelling from Hardwar to New Delhi in a vehicle early today.

The Yoga Guru, who received the Doctorate of Philosophy from the KIIT University here, told the gathering that he had a providential escape and attributed it to the ''mercy of the God''.

He said he left Haridwar at 0230 hours to catch a flight to Bhubaneswar from Delhi when his vehicle had a head-on collision with a speedy truck near Muradanagar, about 120 km from Hardwar.

''It was a serious accident and the front portion of the vehicle was completely smashed but he along with other occupants escaped unhurt,'' the yoga Guru said.

''I was shifted to another vehicle and reached Delhi one hour late but was able to catch the flight to Bhubaneswar to reach here to receive the Doctorate degree from the KIIT University.'' The yoga Guru said that perhaps it was God's desire and the love and blessings of the people that he escaped unhurt to serve the society towards a better health for all through practicing yoga in everyday life.

KIIT University Chancellor A Samant said the University was honoured that such a great saint had agreed to be honoured with the Doctor of Philosophy, the first ever Honorary Degree given to him by any University.

He said the yoga Guru received the Doctorate degree from the Professor Richard R Ernst, a great scientist whose research on bi and tri dimensional spectroscopy immensely helped millions of people, especially those in the medical field.
