ULFA attacks on Congressmen continue in Asom
Guwahati, Jan 27: Amidst growing panic in the Congress camp, specially in Upper Asom following an ULFA threat to party workers, the banned outfit launched a grenade attack at Rajiv Bhawan at Sonari in Sibsagar district last night.
However, there was no injury in the incident.
In another incident, the former general secretary of the Sonari College was attacked by unidentified youths last night.
Meanwhile, Congressmen continued to resign from the party following the ULFA diktat. The militant organisation had warned Congressmen to resign by January 26 or face dire consequences.
The resignations by Congressmen continued after the murder of a party worker in Majuli subdivision on the night of January 24.
General secretary of the Upper Majuli Block Congress Buddheswar Bez was hacked to death by some unidentified persons, suspected to be ULFA militants.
As many as four workers resigned from the Congress in the wake of the killing.
Goan Panchayat president of Rangasahi Gaon was also assaulted by unidentified youths in the same area.
As many as 20 members of the Nowholia Mondal Congress had resigned from the party a few days back and sent their resignations to the Dibrugarh district Congress president.
Suspected militants had attacked a Congressman at Namtola gate in Sibsagar district.
Police launched investigation but no arrests have been made so far.
