Chennai, Jan 27 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Assembly was adjourned sine die today after a six-day pre-budget session.

Leader of the House K Anbazhagan moved the adjournment motion, which was unanimously adopted by the House.

The Assembly session, which began with the customary Governor's address on January 20, was marred by the Opposition AIADMK and the MDMK's boycott, demanding the resignation of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and Local Administration Minister M K Stalin on the issue of violence during Chennai corporation polls.

Though members of the AIADMK and the MDMK came to the House every day, they shouted slogans and staged a walkout before the House could take up the day's business. The Opposition members also came dressed in black on January 25 as a mark of protest.

Speaker R Avudaiyappan ordered the en masse eviction of AIADMK MLAs on the last day today after they trooped into the well of the House and shouted slogans.

The debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address also provided an opportunity to some of the Congress members to openly demand for a share in power.

Three Congress MLAs expressed their wish to join a coalition government in the presence of Mr Karunanidhi on the floor of the House. However, their request failed to evoke any response from the Chief Minister.

Three Bills, including the one providing for re-election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Chennai Corporation, were introduced and passed in the session.
