Three loads of ration rice seized

Chennai, Jan 27 (UNI) Police and the Civil Supplies Department officials today arrested five persons and seized three loads of ration rice at Alakanavu Privu and Valanthayamaram Checkposts in Coimbatore and Kovilpatti-Inam Maniyatchi in Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu, while it was smuggled out to Kerala.

Police said, acting on a tip off they intercepted the lorries and effected the seizure.

They were looking after one more person who had escaped from the scene, police added.
