Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Jan 27: Maharashtra Minister of State for Housing, Slums, Ports Development Pritamkumar Shegaonkar today expressed confidence that the Third Front set up by the various secular forces in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), will decide the next Mayor of the BMC.

Addressing the 'Meet the Press' programme organised by the Aurangabad Zilla Marathi Patrakar Sangh (AZMPS), Mr Shegaonkar, who is also the General Secretary of the Republican Party of India (RPI-A), said the Third Front was hopeful of winning atleast 50 per cent seats in the election.

The RPI-A is contesting 120 of the total 220 seats being contested by the Third Front in BMC. Mr Shegaonkar said the RPI-A may able to win atleast 50 seats.

Expressing his displeasure about the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party's failure in forging an alliance among the secular parties, Mr Shegaonkar said these two major parties have provided an opportunity for contesting election to the RPI groups on experimental basis.

He further said if the RPI groups emerge powerful in the election, the experiment would continue for the Zilla Parishad as well as the Assembly elections.
