Tension in Khargone

Khargone, Madhya Pradesh, Jan 27 (UNI) Tension prevailed in Kasarvad tehsil of this district today after a clash between members of two communities over a trivial issue, police said.

They said people from Balkhad village pelted stone at a place of worship, which was protested by members of another community from Maharajkhedi village. Police fired gunshots in the air and lobbed tear gas shells to control the mob.

Additional forces have been deployed in the area, District Collector E Ramesh Kumar said.

He said the situation was under control, though no arrests were made.

An altercation between two people on snowballed into a clash between the members of the two communities, which later engulfed the entire village into it.
