Tense atmosphere in Khargone
Khargone , MP, Jan 27 (UNI) A tense atmosphere was today created following an argument between two sides over a trifle issue at Kasarvad tahsil in this district, police said.
Balkhad village-resident Irfan alighted a bus with a sack, which was torn and dates were falling out of it. Virendra, who was standing nearby, picked up some dates and ate them leading to an argument. Upon this, Irfan was beaten up by Virendra's father.
The matter hotted up with people from both sides aggravating the matter.
One side stoned a place of worship and some houses. Hundreds of people from other side from Maharajkhedi village protested this.
Amid a tense atmosphere, police fired gunshots in air and lobbed tear gas to disperse the mob. Additional police force were deployed to control the situation. Collector E Ramesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police Rakesh Gupta and Additional SP Anil Singh Kushwah reached the spot along with other senior officials.
Mr Gupta said the situation was under control in the Balkhad and Maharajkhedi villages. No arrests had been made thus far.
As a precautionary measure, police force were deployed in both the villages.
