Suicide bid by police constable foiled

Kolhapur, Jan 27 (UNI) The District Superintendent's office here was the scene of high drama when a police constable poured kerosene on himself outside the premises, apparently in a bid to commit suicide.

Police constable Anand Parshuram Pandhare, attached to the city's Shahupuri police station tried to commit suicide yesterday over alleged injustice meted out to him.

His suicide attempt was foiled by fellow policemen, who prevented Pandhare from lighting a match-stick. He was taken into custody.

A local court granted him bail today and subsequently he was suspended.
