School bus catches fire, all students safe

New Delhi, Jan 27 (UNI) Nearly 30 schoolchildren had a providential escape after their bus caught fire while travelling in Chirag Dilli area of South Delhi this afternoon.

The bus of the Delhi Kannada School, Lodhi Road, caught fire on its own near Chirag Dilli flyover at about 1430 hrs, said the Fire Brigade sources.

However, all the students in the bus were evacuated safely before the fire could spread and no one was injured, said the fireman.

Five fire tenders battled for more than 20 minutes before they could control the flame. The bus was totally destroyed in the fire, the fireman added.

Meanwhile, even as sources said that the driver received minor injuries, the police said the fire took place due to CNG leak.
