Jamshedpur: Miscreants desecrate Ambedkar's statue

Jamshedpur, Jan 27: Resentment prevailed among the Dalits following desecration of Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar's statue at South Eastern Railway's high school ground at Chakradharpur in West Singhbhum district on the eve of Republic day.

Police said some unidentified miscreants damaged parts of ears and nose of the statue and smeared cow dung on the face of the statue.

Earlier also the miscreants had smeared cowdung on Ambedkar's, the founder of the constitution, statue. The incidents sparked a strong resentment among the people of the area and the Dalits threatened to launch agitation if the culprits were not nabbed soon.

They also demanded that such incidents should be stopped immediately as it had become a regular affair in the country.

An FIR was also lodged with the Chakradharpur police station.
