Militants kill one, major tragedy averted in J and K

Srinagar, Jan 27 (UNI) Militnats shot dead one person while security forces averted a major tragedy in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, official sources said.

They said a Road Opening Party (ROP) during routine patrolling noticed a live hand grenade on a Kamalkote bridge in Sultandeki area of Uri sector this morning.

However, the grenade was defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) without causing any damage.

An official spokesman said militants entered the house of one Mohammad Murtaza at Sanglot in Mendhar and shot him dead last night.
