Mani Shankar inaugurates north east trade expo

New Delhi, Jan 27 (UNI) The Minister for Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER) Mani Shankar Aiyar inaugurated the eight-day long fourth North East Trade Expo, 2007 here today.

Inaugurating the exposition, Mr Aiyar said the handicrafts specially their cane and bamboo goods and furniture holds a huge export potential.

He said this exhibition provides the traditional manufacturers and exporters an ideal opportunity of having a direct interaction with the prospective foreign buyers.

This sort of forum also generates demands for these products in the domestic market which is equally essential towards acheiving their ultimate success in the overseas market as it is the domestic buyers who would provide them the cushion of holding their products to the international fluctuations, he added.

All states from the north eastern states have put up exhibits.

The exhibition will remain open upto February 3, next month.
