Life returns to normal in Kashmir after shutdown
Srinagar, Jan 27 (UNI) Life in Kashmir valley returned to normal today after yesterday's general strike called by separatist organisations.
Shops and business establishments reopened this morning and the traffic on all rotues was plying normally.
Life came to a halt yesterday due to strike called by almost all the separatist organisations on the 58th Republic Day.
However, the Republic Day celebrations throughout the Kashmir valley and Ladakh region passed off peacefully.
Expressing satisfaction over the peaceful celebrations, authorities had made unprecedented security arrangments for the Republic Day following intelligence inputs that militants would try to disrupt the proceedings.
However, militant plans to cause large-scale blasts were foiled by the security forces and Jammu and Kashmir police when they recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition besides about 200 kg of RDX and other explosives in the valley early this week.
