Law and order deteriorates in TN: Jayalalithaa

Chennai, Jan 27 (UNI) AIADMK General Secretary and leader of the opposition J Jayalalithaa today alleged that law and order has deteriorated in Tamil Nadu.

In a statement here, she said the recent arrest of nine persons, including five Sri Lankans and supporters of the banned LTTE for attempting to smuggle about two tonne of iron balls for making bombs and a bomb explosion at a house in the city did not augur well for good law and order.

She said the arrest of the Sri Lankans, on a cursory look, might look as a one line story, but it had raised several shocking questions as who were behind the arms smuggling and how the LTTE militants gained a foot hold in the state.

Ms Jayalalithaa claimed during her regime, the LTTE militants, terrorists and extremists were dared to step into the state. But now, the state police was giving a free hand to terrorists and extremists, she alleged.
