INLD chief pays homage to Tara Devi

Hisar, Jan 27 (UNI) Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) supremo and former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala today paid homage to Tara Devi, mother of Zee TV chairman Subhash Chandra, describing the departed social worker as ''a gem of Hisar''.

Mr Chautala visited the family of Tara Devi here to convey his condolences over the passing away of the matriarch, who died recently in a Delhi hospital.

Saying that Tara Devi was the force behind her husband, noted social reformer Nand Kishore Goenka and her children, inspiring them to achieve high goals in life, Mr Chautala expressed confidence that her ideals and teachings would continue to guide her noted family.

Mr Chautala also visited the family of Sumitra Mahajan, Rajya Sabha Member and INLD leader and paid tributes to the departed leader.

''She was a great social worker and in her death Haryana and Hisar in particular, have lost a great champion of the downtrodden,'' he said.

''Both Tara Devi and Sumitra Mahajan would be remembered long for their noble work,'' he said.
