Goods train derailed, train services disrupted

Bhubaneswar, Jan 27 (UNI) Train services were affected as eleven wagons of a goods train carrying iron ore derailed in Orissa forcing the East Coast Railway (ECoR) to cancel several trains under Sambalpur division.

ECoR sources said the Bhusan steel plant bound goods train from Bimalagarh jumped the rails near Lapanga station yard of Sambalpur-Jharsuguda single main line this morning.

The derailment forced the authorities to cancel the Sambalpur- Jharsuguda passenger and 2872 Sambalpur-Howrah Ispat Express.

The 8507 Visakhapatnam-Nizamuddin Hirakud Express and the 2836 Yeshvantpur-Hatia Express were stopped at Sambalpur station.

The 8005 Howrah-Koraput Samaleswari Exp, the EcoR sources said would be short terminated at Jharsuguda and would return as 8006 Koraput-Howrah Samaleswari Express from Jharsuguda to Howrah.

Similarly, the 8006 Koraput-Howrah Samaleswari Exp would be short terminated at Sambalpur and would run as 8005 Howrah-Koraput Samaleswari Express from Sambalpur.

The 334 Titlagarh-Jharsuguda passenger and 212 Puri-Rourkela passenger would also be short terminated at Sambalpur and would run as 333 Jharsuguda-Titlagarh and 211 Rourkela- Puri passenger from Sambalpur to Titlagarh and Puri respectively.

The authorities have cancelled 333 Jharsuguda-Titlagarh passenger between Jharsuguda and Sambalpur which would run as 335 Jharsuguda -Gondia passenger. The 211 Rourkela-Puri passenger will also be short terminated at Jharsuguda and will run as 212 Puri-Sambalpur passenger from Jharsuguda to Rourkela, the ECoR release said.
