112th Maramon Convention on Feb 11

Kottayam, Jan 27 (UNI) The 112th session of the Maramon Convention, the internationally famed largest annual Christian congregation convened by the Mar Thomas Evangelistic Association, the missionary wing of the Mar Thomas Church will commence on February 11 on the sandbed of sacred river Pampa at Maramon.

At a news conference here today, Evangelistic Association General Secretary Rev Dr Johnson P Mathew and other leaders said the ecumenical spirit and the reformation ardour of the 19th century gave birth to the Maramon convention in 1885.

Rt Rev Dr Philipose Mar Chrysostom, Mar Thoma Metropolitan would inaugurate the convention. Rev Dr Samuel Kobia (WCC General Secretary) Bishop Dr Robert M Solomon (Singapore Methodist Church) R Raj Kumar (Director Haggai Institute and Anni Lotz (Daughter of Dr Billy Graham), among others, would address the Convention this year.

The inaugural session will commence at 1430 hrs on February 11.

From Monday to Saturday, there will be three main session at 1030 hrs, 1430 hrs and 1900 hrs The valedictory session would be held at 1430 hrs on February 18.

Various departments of the State and Central Governments were extending support for the convention, Dr Mathew said.
