ZOO workers, college students boycott Republic Day

Tirupati, Jan 26(UNI) Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park workers and Tirumala Tirupati Devastanam(TTD)-run Sri Venkateswara Arts college students today boycotted the Republic Day celebrations in the temple town today protesting non-implementation of their pending issues.

As many as 64 Contract workers of Zoological Park led by their Union President Hari and Secretary Murali observed dharna before the park for their demands, including filling-up of 18 vacancies.

Talking to newspersons here after submitting a memorandum to the authorities concerned in Zoo, Mr Murali urged the officials to employ the workers on time-scale basis. Dharna will continue tomorrow, he added.
