SCR freight loading up by 10 p c

Vijayawada, Jan 26 (UNI) The South Central Railway (SCR) has achieved a freight loading of 43.77 million tonne till December last, registering a significant increase of ten per cent, as against 39.71 mts in the last corresponding period.

The SCR general manager D N Mathur said the total earnings of the zone had risen to Rs 4178.32 crore, as against Rs 3509.56 crore in the last fiscal, showing a 19 per cent growth.

The zone had also been able to maintain its operating ratio at 72.26 per cent during the period as against 82.17 per cent during the same period in the last fiscal.

Mr Mathur said the zone's rail network would be boosted up with the completion of gauge conversion of the 117 km Mudkhed-Kinwat stretch, which would be commissioned for passenger traffic shortly.
