Republic Day celebrated in Kathmandu
Kathmandu, Jan 26: The 58th Republic Day of India was celebrated at the Indian embassy here today at a colourful function.
On the occasion, Indian ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shankar Mukharjee, donanted 15 ambulances to various non-profit charitable and government organisations in different parts of Nepal.
Since 1994, India has presented a total of 122 ambulances to various organisations across 54 districts in Nepal, according to the embassy.
Indian Republic set out to follow the principles of equality, liberty and fraternity not merely in the domestic domain but also in the international arena, the Indian envoy, in his message, said.
''India's relations with Nepal, embodying a special fraternal friendship and rooted in shared history and common interests, are an example of this endeavour.'' He said promulgation of interim constitution and establishment of interim legislature are two milestones in Nepali people's quest for a new Nepal.
Republic Day was also celebrated in other parts of Nepal and pension distributions centres.
