Hundreds of people took to streets at Dalgate here immediately after Friday prayers to protest the killing of Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, a resident of Abi-Nowpora, at Pattan in Baramulla district.

The protestors demanded strict action against the accused troops.

Police said they have registered a case and started investigations into the matter.

Accordingly a signal was flashed to all the police stations and other agencies across the Kashmir valley regarding the incident.

Yesterday, troops of 52 Rashtriya Rifles brought a body to the Pattan police station.

The body was later identified as that of Mohammad Yaqoob Mir.
