Five prisoners go on hunger strike in Bihar

Samastipur, Bihar, Jan 25: At least five prisoners in Samastipur Divisional Jail begam fast unto death today in protest against alleged torture of inmates by jail officials.

They had earlier prayed for justice to Chief Judicial Magistrate S Ansari complaining of their inhuman treatment by jail officials, official sources said.

Efforts were on to persuade the fasting prisoners to call off their agitation, sources added.
