Planet Earth, journey to world's unexplored destinations

Kolkata, Jan 26 (UNI) At a time when pollution and population seem to be major global issues, Discovery channel has explored some exotic places barely touched by humans.

In an endeavour to showcase these awe-inspiring locations, the channel has premiered its exclusive ''Planet Earth'', an 11-part series that presents an incredible footage of some rarely spotted creatures and habitats, here.

The programme, which will be aired every Thursday at 2000 hrs from February 1, would help the viewers to see the world's greatest rivers, impressive gorges, hidden underground world of caves, deserts and other landscapes.

The Rs 100 crore documentary, which had been shot in 200 locations using 40 cameramen, took five years for complation and is produced by Alastair Fothergil.

Discovery Networks India (DNI) Managing Director Deepak Shourie said, '' The programme will be a stunning television experience that combines rare action, impossible locations and intimate moments with the planet's wildest and most elusive creatures.'' DNI associate director Rajiv Bakshi said the series features some breathtaking images of the beautiful earth taken from the outer space with a high-definition camera.

The film aims to take the viewers to those parts where nobody can dream to venture even in ones wildest dreams.
