Colombo, Jan 26: One of Sri Lanka's major resort chains, Jetwing Hotels, has entered into a tie up with a local company, Hayleys and an Indian company Kerala Balers to set up a luxury hotel in Kerala.

The Lanka Business Online (LBO) in a report said the Jetwing's maiden overseas operation will be ''a joint venture with Kerala Balers holding 51 per cent stake, and the balance equally held by Jetwing Hotels and Hayleys.'' ''We will be converting an old coir factory into a small luxury hotel. The Indian partner will provide the land and building,'' the LBO quoted Hiran Cooray, Managing Director of Jetwing as saying.

Jetwing and Hayleys will jointly invest 2.5 million dollars in the project, with the construction work due to begin in three months and slated to be completed in 18 months.

''Spread out over 4.5 acres, the hotel will have 31 large rooms and 4 suites, in addition to all the trimmings of a boutique hotel,'' the report said.

Jetwing owns and manages properties like the Lighthouse Hotel and Spa, The Blue Water, Ayurveda Pavillion among others and most recently, its wetland eco-lodge Vil Uyana.
