Interstate firearms syndicate busted, 4 arrested

Etawah, Jan 26 (UNI) Police busted an interstate firearms syndicate and arrested four members of the gang after a brief encounter in Kotwali area here last night, officials today said.

On a tip-off that some members of the gang were arriving here from Madhya Pradesh to deliver a consignment, cops laid a net and intercepted two motorcycles on Biskhwajawali road.

However, the four started firing at the police and in the ensuing encounter, they were nabbed.

The quartet were identified as Mukesh, Pappu alias Raju, Monu Gupta and Mulla alias Mama. All of them belong to Bhind district of MP.

Four pistols, cartridges and two motorcycles were seized from their possession.

SSP Ram Kumar said Mukesh was the gang leader and a notorious history sheeter of MP. He has several cases of murder, kidnapping and loot registered against him.

Meanwhile, Kanpur zone IG Rizwan Ahmad announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for the police team.
