Impressive parade during R Day celebrations

Bhopal, Jan 26 (UNI) Amid tight security arrangements, Republic Day celebration were held in various districts headquarters of Madhya Pradesh including the state capital with flag-hoisting ceremony followed by an impressive parade and cultural programmes.

Addressing the Republic day function after unfurling the tri-colour and taking salute of an impressive parade at Lal Parade ground here, Governor Balram Jakhar urged people to discharge their duties and responsibilities with the same spirit with which they sought their rights.

''Every section of society is struggling for getting their due rights but never pay attention to one's duties and responsibilities with the same spirit,'' he said, as per an official release.

Stressing on the need for making agriculture profitable profession and reviving Swadeshi movement, Dr Jakhar said the state government was committed to safeguarding the interests of farmers and improving their socio-economic condition.

He enumerated various projects and schemes being carried out by the government in this regard.

Expressing concern over the population rise, he urged citizens, social and political organisations to come out with a common solution.

The Governor said high-standard educational institutes must be developed to attract students from other states.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan hoisted the tri-colour in Sidhi district and took salute of the parade.

He said the resolve of making Madhya Pradesh a prosperous state can be fulfilled by pushing development as a popular movement and keeping development efforts above electoral politics.

''Efforts are being made to follow this strategy to provide full benefits of development to common people and this is top priority of the state government,'' he said, as per an official release.

In the wake of unearthing of an illicit weapons factory in the state capital and arrest of five naxals in this connection in the state capital recently, the Republic Day celebration were held with comprehensive security arrangements in place.
