Four passengers killed in road mishap
Kolkata, Jan 26 (UNI) At least four persons were killed after their vehicle was knocked down by a speeding bus at Mehadipur in Murshidabad district today.
Police here said the accident occurred when the bus driver lost his control and collided with the Maruti van, which was on its way to Kolkata, claiming all the four passengers on the spot.
The bodies were sent for post mortem, police sources said, adding that the bus driver had fled away and a hunt was on to nab him.
Soon after the incident, a furious local mob blocked the roads demanding construction of bumpers on the road, sources said.
However, the blockade was lifted following the intervention of senior district police officials.
