Flights cancelled due to poor visibility

Visakhapatnam, Jan 26 (UNI) For the seventh consecutive day today, all flights operating from here were cancelled due to low visibility and heavy smog.

Airport sources said the thick and heavy smog engulfed the runway. The flights cancellation had its effect on the economy of Airport Authority of India (AAI) too.

The city airport which handled more than 600 passengers during normal days, was losing about Rs 1.5 lakh per day by way of passengers service fee alone. Besides, there was also loss due to non-movement of cargo, the sources added.
