CBI arrests passport office employee
Chennai, Jan 26 (UNI) The Anti-Corruption Branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an employee of a Regional Passport Office for accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500 from an applicant for obtaining a passport under tatkal scheme, here yesterday.
A CBI press release today said, based on a complaint from V R Krishna Kumar against Balaji for demanding illegal gratification of Rs 1,500, the CBI sleuths caught him red-handed.
He was caught in a trap while accepting the bribe of Rs 1,500 along with another Rs 2,500 towards the fee for passport, the release added.
Later, the arrested was remanded to judicial custody, police said.
