Candidate's relative house burnt in election brawl

Imphal, Jan 26 (UNI) In an election related violence in Manipur, unidentifed miscreants today burnt the house of a relative of Samajwadi Party candidate of Nambol assembly constituency in Bishenpur, police said.

The miscreats torched the house of an uncle of SP nominee Maibam Bijoy at Leimapokpam in Nambol under Bishenpur district, which was close to the house of the SP leader.

Police rushed there to take control over the situation.

About one third of the house was burnt in the inferno which was brought under fire by fire brigade personnel and the locals.

Nambol assembly constituecy goes to poll on February 14, the second phase of elections of the 60-member Manipur assembly.
