Border personnel meet at Chuashul Border
Jammu, Jan 26 (UNI) Indian and Chinese security forces today held a Flag Meeting at Chuashul in Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.
A delegation of the Chinese army was received by their Indian counterparts. The tricolour was hoisted on the occasion.
''A mechanism of Sino-Indian Border Personnel Meetings and Flag Meetings has been in vogue and institutionalized,'' sources said.
In a formal meeting, which was held in a cordial atmosphere, greetings were exchanged by both sides. A cultural programme, including a performace by the Military Band, was also organised by the troops of Chuashul Garrison.
The friendly interactions between the two Border Forces have played a significant role in promoting and strengthening bands of friendship, mutual trust and confidence between the two armies, they said.
''Through these interactions, the border representatives from both sides have been able to understand each other's culture, traditions and customs,'' they added.
The recent past has seen an upswing in Sino-Indian relations with a number of high-level exchanges between leaders of the two countries including the recent visit of Chinese President Hu Jintao in November last year, they said.
