AP celebrates 58th Republic Day
Hyderabad, Jan 26 (UNI) Marked by patriotic fervour and re-dedication to nation-building political parties, institutions, universities and different organisations in Andhra Pradesh celebrated the 58th Republic Day today.
Speaker, K R Suresh Reddy hoisted the national flag and paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi's statue in the Assembly premises.
Legislature Secretary, K Tuljanand Singh, MLAs and other party leaders were also present during the occasion.
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Presdient K Keshava Rao, after hoisting the national flag at the state party office 'Gandhi Bhavan', said the ruling Congress was committed to uplift of the poor. The Backward Classes (BCs) should also be given opportunity to develop socially and economically, he added.
The opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu while called for removal of poverty from the society wanted equal opportunites for all.
Participating in the celebrations at the party office Syamaprasad Mukherjee Bhavan, Andhra Pradesh BJP President Bandaru Dattatraya said every citizen should follow the footsteps of the national leaders, who fought for the country's freedom to strengthen the nation.
