Two poppy husk smugglers get three years imprisonment

Moga, Jan 25 (UNI) A local court sentenced three poppy husk smugglers to ten years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh each after finding them guilty under the NDPS Act.

The sentence was pronounced by Additional Sessions Judge B S Sandhu here yesterday.

The police had booked Ranjit Singh of Nurpur Hakiman, Gurjit Singh and Gurmit Singh both residents of Kotisekhan following recovery of four bags of poppy husk from them in October 2002. They were subsequently booked under the NDPS act.

A fourth accused Seetal Singh of Zira was acquitted as the prosecution could not established its case against him.
